Home heating oil and gas prices sometimes can change dramatically in a short period of time. why does this happen? If refiners, wholesalers, dealers and consumers have enough heating fuel supplies in storage and temperatures do not drop rapidly, prices hold fairly steady (assuming crude oil and gas prices are also not changing much). However, a rapid change to colder weather can impact both supply and demand; people want more fuel at the same time that harbors and rivers are frozen or delivery systems are interrupted.

When crude oil prices are stable, home heating oil prices tend to gradually rise in the winter months when demand is highest.

Refineries normally cannot keep up with demand during these cold periods. Wholesale buyers become concerned that supplies are not adequate to cover short-term customer demand and bid up prices for available product. Sunshine Oil Company prides itself on it’s aggressive supply of heating fuel year-round.
Take the guesswork out of your next heating oil bill. When you sign up for our Budget Plan, we monitor your previous years’ fuel usage and make estimates about your next year’s needs based on weather, temperature preferences, and your home’s size. We then divide the total into 10 months. Our Budget Plan starts in June and is calculated at a rate of $1.95/gallon.
What if the market price falls below my Budget Plan price?
If the market price falls below your budget plan price, you will pay the lesser of the two.
How will I know how much heating oil I have consumed?
When you sign up for our Budget Price plan, you need not worry about setting up calls for delivery. You will be placed on an automatic delivery schedule that is determined by Sunshine Oil Company, based on record of usage.
We do not include service plans with our Budget Plan.
Should you be in need of emergency service, there is NO EMERGENCY FEE during normal business hours. However, after hours and weekends, labor is billed at time and a half and double on holidays.
